My Painting for Today.

I received many requests to view the melted frame but alas it's in the trash. ;-[

Yesterday I decided to try a couple things I've wanted to do for a long time.  First, I wanted to paint a painting in a day like so many of my talented new friends.  Second, I wanted to do a self portrait.   To save a day I did both at once.

Self Portrait
6"w x 8"h
Oil on stretched Canvas

I made the background really dark because I wanted a self portrait to use as a profile picture.  I've noticed that pictures of high contrast stand out the best.  Watch for my yellow rose to be exchanged for this painting.  I'll have to depend on those who know me to tell me if I've made the painting realistic.  I noticed my glasses are crooked, that's normal :-).

  1. I think that this is a BEAUTIFUL painting! I love the hightlight in the glasses, the detail of the earrings, the skin tone and the intensity in the eyes. It's amazing how you have captured that! Also it has the just the right amount of seriousness and sweetness. Again Beautiful!

  2. I like the idea of a painting as a profile picture, especially a self-portrait of an artist. You did a good job. Why do glasses get crooked anyway? Mine do the same.

  3. Thanks Myra and Lee. Posting one's own portrait is a scary proposition.
One person thought I looked depressing. I felt cheerful at the time...must have been the concern over making it recognizable. I did enjoy the process.
As far as using it for a profile picture, I find I use friend connect to look at others blogs and I always look for the little pictures that look like they are artists. Have a great day and thanks for the comments.
